Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis (Bti)

Bacillus thuringiensis subspecies israelensis ("Bti") is a subspecies of a bacterium that is commonly found in soil.

This specific subspecies has been modified to produce spores that are toxic to certain winged insects - like fungus gnats, mosquitoes, and blackflies. Studies indicate it is not toxic to other animals.

It is widely distributed under the trade name "Mosquito Bits" or "Mosquito Dunks".
