Substrate

Substrate refers to the surface and underlying layers on which an organism lives in or on. In reference to an enclosure it could refer to the soil and different layers that are included in an enclosure.

An example BioActive layering setup would be:

1. Leaf Litter
2. Sphagnum Moss
3. ABG
4. Substrate Barrier
5. Rocks/False Bottom
