Hygrometer

A hygrometer is a device used to measure relative humidity.

In a vivarium, a hygrometer may be used to monitor humidity levels inside an enclosure.

These devices come in both analog and digital formats - the main differences being the mechanisms by which humidity is measured and displayed

Most retail hygrometers lose accuracy, or malfunction when left in high humidity (70%+) environments for long periods of time, or when they come into direct contact with water.

If even a single water droplet is making direct contact with a sensor, the hygrometer may give an inaccurate reading.

For best results:

• Store the hygrometer outside of the enclosure to ensure accuracy and longevity.
• Use the hygrometer to take a reading, then remove it from the enclosure.
• Avoid misting or spraying water directly onto the hygrometer.
