Fruit Fly Culture Guide

Materials

• Fruit fly culture mix
• Fruit fly culture cups with mesh lids
• Excelsior
• Fruit fly culture that is currently producing

Directions

1. Buy fly culture mix (I.e., Repashy Superfly), fly culture cups with mesh lids, Excelsior, and a producing fruit fly culture.
2. Mix with hot water per instructions. Let cool.
3. Add a handful of Excelsior.
4. Add 50-100 fruit flies from the producing mix.
5. Wait 2 weeks if melanogasters, 3-4 if hydei.
