Excidobates

The genus of Excidobates represents poison dart frogs that are endemic to the Marañón River drainage in Peru and Ecuador. Species in this genus were initially organized under Dendrobates before being reclassified into Excidobates. Pale, egg shaped spots underneath the thighs are a distinct marking that is characteristic of this genus.

As of 2024 there are only three species within the Excidobates genus.

1. Santiago poison frog (Excidobates captivus)
2. Condor Poison Frog (Excidobates condor)
3. Marañón poison frog (Excidobates mysteriosus)
