UVB is part of the natural sunlight spectrum. == Reptiles == UVB lighting helps reptiles to synthesize Vitamin D3. If the animal is getting enough Vitamin D3 in its' diet UVB is not required. Most reptiles however require exposure to UVB to produce enough Vitamin D3. UVB lighting allows reptiles to naturally regulate their Vitamin D3 levels. The absence of correct UVB can lead to reptiles developing Metabolic Bone Disease (MBD), bone softening, bone deformation, other serious illnesses, and death.
