== Reproduction ==
Male ''D. auratus'' will call near a laying site to attract a female. Females will compete for males and chase them away from the male's territory. Eggs are deposited on moist, terrestrial sites (like damp leaf litter) and maintained by the male, who rotates them to maintain oxygen and water levels until they hatch. At that time, the tadpoles are carried on the male's back to small pools of water where they continue development.<ref>Savage, J. M. (2002).
